Where to stay?

So, when you are looking for that special place to stay, whether it be for a family adventure or a romantic getaway, you usually make a list in your head of what you would like your accommodation to have. We have taken the hard work out your hands and found a perfect spot to fill all your requirements.

This tranquil bush setting is also perfect for couples who just wish to get away from their everyday routines.

One of the main reasons we like to pick a holiday park or self-catering accommodation, that has a kitchen and separate living areas, is because we like to be able to feel comfortable and relaxed within our environment, and hotel rooms for a family of four just don’t provide this level of comfort and space. With all of these on-site amenities and facilities, The Retreat Port Stephens has you covered!

So, what to do when you are here?

This little oasis boasts 26 spectacular beaches. Many of these, like Shoal Bay, are perfect for families. Shoal Bay is sheltered from the waves and rips of a surfing beach and is much safer for children. If you are looking for a little more action, then One Mile Beach and Anna Bay will have you covered.

Port Stephens Surf School has highly trained and experience coaches who are available to guide and teach you stand-up paddle boarding and surfing.

Perhaps, relaxing and letting someone else steer you into the wonders of Port Stephens is more your cup of tea. Then take one of the many Dolphins cruises, available from the Nelson Bay Jetty. Port Stephens is home to more than 200 dolphins and there are a variety of cruises to choose, from an hour to the sunset option. There’s something for everyone.

For a more-hands on experience perhaps swimming with the dolphins is for you, and should be one to add to your to do list. If this is the case,  then head to Dolphin Swim Australia to book your cruise and swim with the wild dolphins.

So, once you have been out at sea and seen the fish, dolphins, coral, and sea turtles, it’s now time to head to the sand dunes. Stockton Sand Dunes are a good place to start. If adrenaline is what you are craving, then Sand Dune Adventures  has you covered with quad biking and sandboarding.

There are many tours and attractions around Port Stephens for everyone to enjoy:

  • Bush walking
  • National Park guided tours
  • Golf
  • Fishing
  • Horse and camel rides
  • Local wineries and brewery
